The geography of Bad Bellingen (Basel metropolitan area) is characterized by its vineyards landscape going down from the Black Forest to the Rhine. The spa town is however cut off from its relation to the river because of the barrier created by the E35 highway. This project aims at reconnecting Bad Bellingen to the Rhine banks by redeveloping its underground passages across the infrastructure.
This proposal puts forward a continuous piece of street furniture, incorporating the signage and lighting. This stretched park bench is destined to become a special place of sociability and allows to persons with reduced mobility to rest along the way. This device is accompanied with a mirror facing on the highway retaining walls, intended to open the view and integrate the infrastructure into the landscape |
